The question this answers

Make historical rate changes easier to analyze

Published residential tariffs differ across utilities, rate schedules and time. RateAcuity converts those structures into monthly modeled residential cost histories, helping analysts monitor rate movements, compare trends, and incorporate utility cost changes into their own research models.

How modeled costs are calculated

1

Average usage

RateAcuity starts with published average residential usage by state.

2

Applicable tariff

Analysts apply the utility tariff rates in effect for the reporting month.

3

Monthly cost and unit cost

Each month gets a modeled total cost, plus cost per kWh (electric) or per CCF (gas).

Modeled service cost based on published tariffs and representative usage. Not an individual customer bill or an official price index.
