On July 15, 2022, Alaska Electric Light and Power Company filed a request with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska requesting approval of permanent and interim increases to AELP’s base rates for firm electric service. If approved, the permanent rate change will increase firm service base rate revenues by various percentages based on AELP’s cost of service study and proposed rate design, resulting in an overall average effective increase of 9.0 percent to firm service rates. If the Commission suspends AELP’s request for permanent rate relief, AELP requests an across-the-board interim and refundable rate increase of 4.5 percent to firm service base rates. AELP also requests that the Commission approve, effective at the same time as new permanent base rates, revisions to AELP’s schedule of miscellaneous fees and charges.
